HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 01, MAR. 2025
In January 2026, Vietnam’s seafood exports showed positive momentum, particularly for pangasius and shrimp. Pangasius exports increased strongly in major markets, with China & Hong Kong reaching about USD 72 million (+129%), while CPTPP markets also recorded solid growth, highlighting continued demand recovery. The EU market saw moderate improvement due to shortages of other whitefish, making pangasius a competitive alternative. Meanwhile, shrimp exports reached USD 379.6 million (+22%), driven mainly by strong demand from China and Japan ahead of the Lunar New Year. However, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising logistics costs may pose potential risks to seafood trade in the coming months.
