HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 02, MAY 2026

Vietnam’s seafood exports continued to post positive growth in the first four months of 2026 despite ongoing global market volatility. Pangasius exports rose 17%, driven strongly by China, CPTPP, and ASEAN markets, while the industry accelerated efforts toward sustainability, product quality improvement, and export diversification. Shrimp exports increased 15%, supported by recovering demand in China and stable consumption in markets such as Japan and the UK, although the sector continued facing pressure from high inventories, price competition, and rising trade risks. Tuna exports remained under pressure in traditional markets like the US and EU, but emerging destinations including Russia, Israel, Egypt, and the Middle East recorded strong growth. Meanwhile, crab and swimming crab exports achieved impressive expansion, fueled mainly by robust demand from China and the United States.
