HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 02, MAR. 2026
Vietnam’s seafood exports in early 2026 show positive momentum but clear divergence across product groups. Pangasius is shifting toward higher-value positioning, notably gaining acceptance in Japan’s premium segments such as sushi chains, helping elevate its global image. Shrimp exports rose nearly 20% in the first two months, driven mainly by strong demand from China, while shipments to the US declined sharply due to tariff pressures. Tuna exports remained stable, and squid, octopus, scallops, and surimi recorded solid growth. However, the industry continues to face challenges from rising logistics costs, raw material price pressure, and increasing trade barriers.
