HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 02, JUN. 2026
Vietnam’s seafood exports maintained positive momentum in the first months of 2026, supported by recovering demand in key markets and growing diversification efforts. Pangasius exports reached approximately 802 million USD by mid-May, up 15.6%, driven by stable demand from China, a recovering US market, and strong growth in Mexico. Shrimp exports continued to expand globally, although shipments to the US declined 21% amid weaker consumer demand, trade barriers, and intensified competition from Ecuador and India. Tuna exports benefited from strong growth in markets such as Russia, Israel, and the UK, where a newly announced tariff suspension is expected to create additional opportunities. Meanwhile, swimming crab exports delivered impressive results, supported by strong demand in the US and the recognition of Vietnam’s fishery by NOAA Fisheries, strengthening access to this key market.
