HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 02, JULY 2026
Vietnam’s seafood exports continued to show resilience through mid-2026, supported by diversified markets and growing demand in Asia. Pangasius exports surpassed 1.0 billion USD by mid-June, up 12.9%, with China remaining the largest growth driver and Japan emerging as a promising market for value-added products. Shrimp exports maintained positive momentum, led by strong lobster shipments to China, although weak demand in the US and global price competition continued to weigh on the sector. Meanwhile, swimming crab exports surged 42% in the first five months of 2026, driven by robust demand from the US following recognition under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), while tuna exports faced challenges in several European markets amid rising competitive pressure. Overall, Vietnam’s seafood industry is strengthening its long-term competitiveness through market diversification, value-added processing, sustainability, and improved traceability.
