HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 01, MAY 2026

Vietnam’s seafood exports maintained positive momentum in the first quarter of 2026 despite uneven demand across global markets. Pangasius exports rose 17%, supported mainly by strong growth in China and stable demand in Asian and CPTPP markets, while the industry continued shifting toward higher-quality and sustainable production. Shrimp exports increased 17.5%, driven largely by booming lobster shipments to China, although rising feed costs and falling raw shrimp prices continued to pressure farmers. Tuna exports showed signs of monthly recovery but remained under pressure in traditional markets such as the US and EU, while emerging markets including the Middle East, Russia, and Israel recorded strong growth. Meanwhile, surimi exports declined slightly overall, despite positive momentum in China and several smaller markets.
