HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 01, JUN. 2026
Vietnam’s seafood industry continued to show resilience in the first four months of 2026, with growth supported by market diversification and a stronger focus on sustainability. Pangasius exports reached 720 million USD, up 17%, while the industry accelerated efforts to improve seed quality, promote deep processing, maximize by-product utilization, and strengthen climate resilience. Shrimp exports benefited from robust demand in China, where shipments surged more than 55%, although exporters continued to face challenges from weak US demand, intense global competition, and rising logistics costs. Tuna exports gained momentum in emerging markets such as the UK and Russia, supported by favorable trade agreements and growing demand. Meanwhile, clam, squid, and octopus exports recorded solid growth across several key markets, reflecting the industry's ability to adapt to shifting global consumption trends and expand beyond traditional destinations.
