HGF'S BREAKING NEWS NO. 01, FEB. 2026
In early 2026, Vietnam’s seafood sector continues to show mixed but resilient performance. Pangasius exports in the first half of January were led by China and the U.S., while EU exports in 2025 remained relatively flat (USD 175 million, -1%), with growth shifting to markets such as Spain, France, Hungary, and Sweden; meanwhile, raw material prices surged to multi-year highs due to supply shortages. The shrimp industry closed 2025 at a record USD 4.6 billion (+19%), supported by strong growth in China (+61%) and EU import recovery, despite ongoing U.S. trade pressures. Swimming crab exports reached nearly USD 86 million (+6%), heavily dependent on the U.S. market, while exports to China & Hong Kong declined sharply. Overall, diversification, value-added products, and raw material management remain key priorities for 2026.
